NEWSCLASSESSCHEDULEFENCING INFOLINKSABOUT US

Beginner Classes

LCF has changed its format to allow more people to participate. We have adopted rolling admissions to eliminate the need for strict attendance and fixed lesson schedules. Our growth, along with the new lesson system, has allowed us to decrease the up-front cost and allow for pay as you go instruction. The classes will be an introduction to Sabre fencing (a video is available on the Fencing Info page). Each lesson will consist of an hour of instruction and an hour of optional practice time.
The first lesson is free to let you decide if you are interested in continuing. When you decide that fencing is the sport for you, you pay $40 to get started and only $10 per lesson after that. If you can't make it one week you won't have to worry about getting behind, just show up and learn at your own pace.
Topics covered will include stance, safety, parries, lunges, riposte, disengage, bout etiquette and more. Taking these classes will allow someone with no fencing background to develop the basic skills necessary to continue in this exciting sport.
Fencing equipment is provided, but all participants will need to come ready for physical activity. Appropriate attire is required, and will be strictly enforced: t-shirt, shorts (you can run in), athletic shoes, and, once we begin using equipment, an athletic cup (for boys) or a breastplate (for girls).
